PURPOSE
Boston. Gang Cycle. The Youth.
Our purpose here is to discuss, expose and create sympathy for victims and others affected by gangs and gang violence. After discussing the project as a team, we realized what was missing from the exposure of gang violence in the media (Online News etc.) was the representation of its victims, especially the youth. We decided that one of the most important things to recognize in this issue is the cycle that the youth are trapped in due to a various number of reasons; for example, poverty, institutionalised racism, domestic problems.
THE STIGMA
There is a stigma around the youth of today. The assumption that most of the youth is somehow related to or involved in Gang violence. However fail to understand that many are successful in standing their own ground and avoiding ganglife. However, others do not necessarily see the choices that they have, they are forced to take part in gang warfare and youth violence because they believe that there is nothing else out there for them.
